Paraglider crashes into area near Mount Timpanogos.
***Press Release***
At 6 PM on 06/21/2026, an adult male called into Central Dispatch saying that he had crashed while paragliding. The patient stated that he was in a narrow ravine on the north side of Provo Canyon near Mount Timpanogos and that he was very badly injured.
The area where the patient had crashed was very steep and high up on the mountains, requiring the assistance of 2 helicopters to search for him while a 3rd staged to transport the patient. Once the patient was located, rescuers were rapidly flown as close to the area as possible, and they began a very technical rescue due to the steep and dangerous terrain.
Despite the efforts of rescuers, the patient succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.
Utah County Sheriff Investigators, and personnel from the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office were summoned to the scene for further investigation.
We will not be releasing the name of the patient, as we are working on notifying the next of kin.
