***Press Release***

On 03/28/26 at about 6:30 PM, Utah County Deputies responded to a report of possible human bones being found in the Mountains above Springville City. A witness, that was riding a horse in the area, had seen the remains earlier in the day but was unable to call in due to the lack of cell phone service. Once the witness had cellphone service, they called 911. Our Deputies and Detectives met with the witness that night and interviewed them. Due to the rugged area and nightfall, we decided to begin the search for the scene in the early hours of 03/29/26.
Early this morning, UCSO Detectives, UCSO CSI and personnel from the Utah Medical Examiner’s office hiked into the area and found the remains. At this time, we have confirmed they are human remains and we are still investigating and processing the scene. We are also still working on confirming the identity of the deceased.
UCSO personnel will continue to search the area as long as conditions will allow and then continue again in the morning. The deceased will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office, and we will be working closely with them.

This still an active and ongoing investigation. We will update this release as more information becomes available.
