Updated South Fork of Provo Canyon Incident

***Updated Press Release***

On 03/05/26 at 8PM, an adult male suspect had unlawfully entered an occupied home in the South Fork Neighborhood of Provo Canyon. An armed resident of the home had verbally confronted the male suspect about being at the home and was trying to get the suspect to leave the property. The suspect pushed the resident out of the way and began to try to force his way into the home. That caused great alarm to the other persons in the home, who then locked themselves into a bedroom.
The initial resident was armed with a handgun and again verbally confronted the suspect in efforts to get the suspect to leave the residence. The suspect then attacked the resident, who defended themself by firing several shots at the suspect. The suspect was struck once by gunfire and then fled the home and ran to a nearby aircraft hangar. At that point, the suspect then stole a parked truck from outside the residence and began to flee the area, damaging property in the process. Utah County Sheriff Deputies, who were rushing to the scene, saw the fleeing suspect and stopped him. The suspect was then taken into custody by UCSO Deputies without incident. While UCSO Deputies were searching the property, they located an unloaded handgun that the suspect had stolen during the incident.
The suspect has been taken to a local hospital for treatment and was released back into our custody and he will be booked into the Utah County Jail. There were minor injuries to the resident that confronted the suspect. The suspect is a resident of Colorado and has no known ties to this area.
This is still an active investigation.
