Search and Rescue

What We Do

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team is made up of about 50 highly trained volunteers who respond to more than 100 rescue missions each year. Team members bring expertise in technical rope rescue, swift-water and ice rescue, dive recovery, K9 tracking, avalanche response, and medical aid.
Utah County’s vast terrain—from the peaks of Mt. Nebo and Mt. Timpanogos to Utah Lake and the west desert—creates constant demand for skilled response. SAR volunteers dedicate countless hours and personal resources to saving lives, embodying true public service.

Mounted Posse

What We Do

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse is a trusted and versatile team that supports both community events and search and rescue operations. While they’re often seen representing the Sheriff’s Office in parades and public gatherings, their most vital work happens on mountain trails—transporting medical supplies, assisting rescuers, and helping bring lost or injured hikers safely down.

Members of the Mounted Posse train regularly to enhance their skills and are often called upon to assist neighboring counties. Their service saves time, extends our reach, and strengthens rescue efforts across Utah County.
We’re deeply grateful for their dedication and spirit of service. When you see a member of the Mounted Posse, take a moment to thank them for the work they do to keep our community safe.
