The Utah County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Section provides law enforcement services to unincorporated areas of the county, contract cities, and assists local, state, and federal agencies. Deputies handle everything from traffic enforcement and citizen contacts to major crime responses and proactive patrols. They also lead community programs such as radKIDS, D.A.R.E., and Neighborhood Watch. Public partnership is essential to our mission—community involvement, awareness, and feedback help us keep Utah County safe.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office proudly sponsors the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program, a nationally recognized initiative dedicated to building community partnerships and supporting public safety. In partnership with the Utah County Sheriff Jeep Patrol, VIPS recruits, trains, and retains skilled volunteers who assist with community programs, events, and emergency response efforts.

VIPS members enhance the Sheriff’s Office by providing additional resources and community support without added costs. Volunteers assist deputies with tasks such as traffic control, welfare checks, VIN verifications, vacation patrols, and other service calls. Participants complete a background check and training program, committing to at least eight volunteer hours per month.

The VIPS program offers citizens a meaningful way to serve their community, strengthen public safety, and experience the camaraderie of working alongside law enforcement professionals.
